Review Policy

I am willing to consider submissions from publishers and self-published authors or publicists but please do not leave your request here in the Comments or on any other page. Send an email to me at cncbooks1@gmail.com and we’ll discuss it further.  Consideration means exactly that—there are no guarantees that one of my volunteer reviewers or I will post a review or that it will be a positive one. We promise to be fair, though, and a negative review will include clear reasons for the opinion. We don’t intend to be mean.

Print and electronic books are both welcome but I read on a Nook and a Kobo, not a Kindle. Ebooks can be in either epub or pdf formats and a Word doc may also be acceptable if I can convert it.

If a review by one of my volunteers is posted here, I will also send it to DorothyL, and/or Worlds of Fantasy as may be appropriate and the reviewer may post it elsewhere. Reviews done by me will be posted on DorothyL, 4MA,  YABC and/or Worlds of Fantasy as appropriate plus several Facebook groups, Goodreads and Barnes & Noble.  Those re-postings will occur approximately three weeks after the posting on Buried Under Books but notices to Twitter and my Facebook page will be sent on the original date of posting. I do not post reviews on Amazon.

As for genre, look around at some of the reviews here and you’ll have a good idea of what we’re likely to want to look at. We will not accept erotica and your potentially bestselling how-to guide for investing is not going to cause anyone here to jump up and down in anticipation. If you’re not sure, ask!

New Note 10/25/14: For the time being, I will not be accepting most Amazon -exclusive submissions simply because they are not available on multiple platforms, ebook and/or print and I also will decline Amazon-published books. There are a lot of readers, including me, who choose to get our books elsewhere and I think my blog should promote books that all my readers can get. I will make exceptions for those that are only temporarily exclusive for a promotion but are usually available on Nook, Kobo, Google Play, Smashwords, or other platforms or for those authors who have been reviewed here before. I also will decline Amazon-published books.

New Note 9/26/19: I’ve been getting a lot of requests to review romance but I don’t read that genre as such. I do read fiction that has some romance in it so please keep that in mind when asking for a review.
